El Gouna in Egypt on the Red Sea?
has anyone been there and what's it like?
I went to El Gouna last year with my boyfriend and had an amazing time.
You fly into Hurgada which is about 30 mins away from El Gouna. It is quite a quiet resort but it is a beautiful place. It is very safe as all the roads and hotels have road blocks and armed guards who check all cars going in and out. It's fairly small so it's quite quick and easy to get around - either by bus or little tuk tuk type taxis. The food there is gorgeous - lots of grilled meat and fish - all very healthy.
We went in May and it ws very hot, but we were told it gets unbearably hot in July and August.
The snorkelling and diving excersions are well worth it - the sea life there is incredible.
We also took a day trip to Luxor - it was quite a long journey there, but worth the 4am start! It is an amazing place.
I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a quite beach holiday - there aren't really any night clubs - so if you're looking for a more lively holiday then somewhere like Hurgada or Sharm el Sheik would suit you better.
