Truk Lagoon is located 1000km (650 miles) southeast of Guam, 1200km (750 miles) north of Papua New Guinea and 9600km (6,000 miles) southwest of Los Angeles.Weno, the capital of Chuuk, is served by Continental Micronesia with 4 flights per week from/to Guam.

Chuuk has a warm, tropical climate. The dry season (the best time to travel) is between December and April; the rainy season, April to December, with the greatest falls between July and October. Temperatures average between 26-32 degrees celsius, with the water temperature sitting on a comfortable year-round 28-29 degrees Celsius. Chuuk Lagoon has attracted divers from virtually every corner of the world.

Divers can now discover some of the world's best wrecks by staying at the well-established and family-run Truk Stop Hotel 1st diving with Truk Lagoon's newest and most professional dive center. Truk Stop Hotel is ideally located near the center of Weno, within easy walking distance of major stores, markets and all main activities on Weno Island. The Truk Lagoon Dive Center is located on the grounds of the Truk Stop Hotel operating from their own private jetty adjacent to the dive shop. This is rated by many international divers as one of the best value land-based diving options around.

The Truk Stop Hotel and Dive Center is a PADI Resort offering great accommodations plus a full service dive center for both the recreational and technical diver. They offer up to 4 dives a day and Hotel Restaurant serves international, western style and local food daily from 6:00am to till 10:00pm. The dive center generally visits around 20 of the most popular dive sites plus other interesting sites upon request or when conditions are right. Most dive sites are located within a 25 minute boat ride from the dive shop.
