I'm looking for info on a trip to Australia this Fall from Iraq. I have 15 days in country. What do I need?

I'm flying out of Kuwait. Do I need a passport or a Visa? I'll be a tourist for 15 days. What attractions would you recommend? I'm plannng to go to Sydney and Melbourne, possible further north too. I want to go scuba diving, jet skiing, and see museums. Are there hostels or inexpensive (but high quality) motels? What credit cards are accepted? What are the Dollar and Euro exchange rates? Any cool tours or events/concerts going on? I plan to be therein September or October.
