How to stay safe when scuba diving?
I am going on holiday and will be going scuba diving. I have heard there are some deadly snakes in the water and I heard that one of them can kill you in just 10 minutes with their highly-poisonous venom. There are also many sharks such as great whites!
If I happened to see a great white shark, would it attack me or leave me alone? If I just ignored it, would it still attack me? And is this the case with snakes as well?
Also, if I went scuba diving, would I do it with an instructor/guide or would I do it by myself. I would much rather prefer to go with someone who has experience in this sort of thing.
Rule # 1 in SCUBA is never go alone! There are many things you could do wrong which could hurt you or kill you if you're not paying attention and you need to be with someone who does. This is why you need to have a certification card just to rent the tanks of air.
Go with an instructor and enjoy yourself. It's truly amazing how beautiful the underwater world can be.
As far as sharks go, surfers get tagged more than divers since sharks hunt things on the surface of the water. If you see one down below, it should just leave you alone. If you're concerned about them while you're out there, spend as little time as possible on the surface - - get right off the boat and go under, then when you're done, come back up close to the boat.
Sorry, can't help with snakes, never seen them out there.
