What is the best way to travel Tahiti?
I am starting to plan my honeymoon and am looking into tahiti as our destination. Ideally I would want to go to Tahiti for one night, Bora Bora 4-6 nights, and Rangiroa for 2-3 nights. There are many different websites with deals and packages but is this the route I want to take? Or should I go through a travel agent? I know there are online auctions as well, such as skyauction.com, but I'm not quite sold on that idea. We are planning on going in September 2011 and are looking to get the best and most convenient deals available (Flights, Resorts, Meals, Activities). Also, If there are any experienced travelers out there with some helpful tips, it would be greatly appreciated.
Below are things we would like to do there:
Scuba dive/ Snokle (currently not certified divers)
Golf
Hike
Swim w/ Sharks and/or Rays
Helicopter tour
Parasail
...etc.
If there are other things that we should tryout or avoid, feel free to let us know!
Thank you!
Air Tahiti Nui out of LA for your flight... or you might consider a circular pacific tour. (hey, as long as you are going to the South Pacific, Live a little)
check out this site. http://www.airtimetable.com/circle_pacific_airfares.htm
any hotel that you book... and there are a lot of them and they are expensive, will be able to help you with all the bookings that you have mentioned. You might be able to save some money on a package deal.
Like this one. http://www.airtahitinui-usa.com/specials/tahitihoneymoon.asp
or this: http://www.tahitihoneymoons.com/
but check out Airtreks.com and think about the circular pacific fares that let you explore and visit many different places at similar or cheaper prices to what you would pay for a week in French Polynesia. While I admit that Bora Bora is the most beautiful place in the world, there are close comparisons in Bali and Raratonga, Fiji and various other Asian and Pacific Islands. Bali being one of the best with the most to see and do.
It comes right down to "What you want to do!" its your honeymoon. but consider when you might get a chance to get back to the south pacific and broaden your ambition and horizons.
