Diving yacht charters in the BVI
The BVI is routinely acknowledged as one of the best diving destinations in the world.
One of the most popular ways of exploring the diving sites is by chartering a yacht. A diving yacht charter gives you flexibility of visiting the best diving places and diving spots that are otherwise hard to reach.
The BVI have always attracted divers, but many people predict that 2010 will to be a banner year for the diving in the BVI. Scuba Diving magazine's 2009 Readers' Choice Awards named the British Virgin Islands as the Top Wreck Diving destination and among the Top Ten destinations for snorkeling and beginner diving.
Since then the BVI have been featured in many diving and mainstream lifestyle publications and the interest for diving yacht charters has increased significantly. Many charter yachts have added diving as an additional offer for their guests because the demand for it is steadily growing.
The BVI feature a great variety of diving sites – from shallow reefs and underwater lava tunnels to dramatic sea caverns, underwater caves and a number of shipwrecks.
BVI diving is suitable for all levels - with its warm water, calm seas, and lack of current the BVIs are the perfect place for a novice diver. But advance divers should not worry – the area offers many advanced sites, mainly shipwrecks and underwater caves. There are so many diving sites that it is nearly impossible to explore the variety of underwater sites in a typical one week yacht charter.
The BVI diving yacht charters are popular year around as the air temperature stay between 80 and 90 degrees all year. Visibility is mostly good to excellent year around.
There are two ways to explore the best diving sites in the BVI:
- chartering a yacht that offers onboard scuba diving
The crew members on those charter boats are divers themselves and they know all the secluded anchorages and all the best scuba diving and snorkeling spots. This is the best option for charter guests who wish to dive more than just once or twice during their charter.
- chartering a yacht that offers rendezvous scuba diving
If you are only interested in occasional diving, then you can charter any yacht, not only the ones specializing in diving. A yacht can arrange rendezvous diving with a local dive company who will meet you at your yacht, take you for your dive and return you to your yacht.
The tremendous variety of diving sites and sea life you will encounter on a diving charter will keep you coming back to the BVI again and again. The British Virgin Islands have a diversity of diving sites that cannot be found anywhere else.
The website, BviBoat.com, has descriptions of all boats offering scuba diving charters in the BVI.
