learn to scuba dive holidays
What thickness of wetsuit should I buy?

Hi
I learnt to scuba dive about 2 years ago and have always hired wet suits. We only scuba on holidays in warm waters e.g. Caribbean, kenya, maldives etc but I think we might be best off buying wet suits. We have always hired shorties and these are fine, but what thickness should I buy?

Also any recommendations of good places to buy?

helpful replies are most appreciated

many thanks
Nicola

Hi Nicola,
The thickness of your exposure suit is dependant upon where you intend to dive, the depth you will be going to and the duration of time spent underwater.
I would think that a 3 - 5mm suit would best fit the bill in the locations you have listed. I personally would use a 5mm for cooler water and maybe a rash suite for those warm bath days.
Go to your local dive shop to try a selection on, they all fit differently so it`s best to spend some time trying a few on to get the best fit. Also the shoppies will gladly give you all the help you need.

Remember though, what may seem warm at 10m will not feel so warm at 25m.
