Red Sea Scuba Diving

Allergic reaction to suntan lotion or something in the water?

In the past, usually the day of or after scuba diving, I would notice a rash usually behind my knees and on my arms. I assumed it was from something in the water. It was itchy but nothing I couldn't live and it normally went away within a day or two. Last week, after applying sunscreen (by a leader in skin care) my skin felt tight and got red. Hours later I took a quick jump in the ocean never leaving the surface. Sure enough two hours later my rash was on but much more than ever before. All over my legs and on my arms. I have found some info about some sea water issues like sea lice but my symptoms don't seem to match. It's not from items getting stuck in my bathing suit or attacking the areas where I don't have a suit on.

Anyone have any insight? I would love to blame it on cheap lotion but this was name brand stuff. I can't find anything that typically leads to a reaction and it was PABA free.

Well, I prob. don't know much but me and my friends were playing at the beach in shallower waters and we were rubbing some kind of seaweed (pink with little pockets w/ stuff inside) on each others' faces without knowing that it would do harm but soon after we got a rash on our faces and the places burned badly but after putting lots of ice on it for a while it was fine. HOPE THIS HELPS
