Scuba diving is like a passport into another world, a world of fragile coral and exotic, colorful sea creatures. Here are five of the most incredible places in the world to immerse yourself:
Blue Hole, Belize
Belize's Great Blue Hole was deemed one of the top 10 places to scuba dive in the world by none other than Jacques Cousteau himself. The Great Blue Hole is a giant, 407-foot-deep underwater sinkhole located near Ambergris Caye. At that depth, you'll want to be careful, and be sure you're going with an experienced and reputable tour company. The Great Blue Hole is mainly known for several species of sharks. The real attraction is simply the scenery- before the ocean rose and covered the cave, massive stalactites and stalagmites were able to form, and divers can swim among them.
Great Barrier Reef
The world's largest reef system, the Great Barrier Reef also offers some of the world's most incredible diving opportunities. In fact, it's considered one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. The reef is home to whales, porpoises, sea turtles and dugongs, in addition to over 1,500 different types of fish and 400 different types of coral.

A passport is required for travel to any of these dive sites. Be sure to plan ahead and apply well in advance, as it takes six weeks for regular service and three weeks for expedited service.
