PADI advanced open water license?
Hi Divers!
I have a question regarding PADI-AOW diver license.
I understand it is theory + 5 dives (2 core + 3 specialised).
All dive centers I've looked as offers all above as an package, but is it possible to do it part by part, ie do the core part at some place and the remaining at (several) different dive centers?
I wanted to ask here before I call a dive center to take a class....

Thanks Robert M for a descriptive answer. It means than that I as OW diver can go ahead and start doing adventure dives, get paper and then top up with core dives + theory, correct?
(I prefer to do the theory in my home town but not the special dives)
Each dive of the AOW course is an Adventure Dive. You may do each at a different location
You answer the Knowledge Reviews (questions at the end of the related chapters), the instructor goes over them with you, you get the credit for each dive.
There are 2 paths, the Adventure Diver (any 3 of the dives), which is a certification level. And the AOW, which is 5 dives , but must include the core dives (Deep and Navigation).
You do not have to be certified as an Adventure Diver, JUST MAKE SURE THAT YOU GET THE ADVENTURE DIVE CERT OF COMPLETION (a log book sized piece of paper), then the next dive centre that you visit will know which dives you have done and can complete the course/next dive.
At the end you will need to pay for the certification card.

That is correct. There is little (if any) classroom work. A compass briefing on land is sufficient and the other dives are mostly self-study and review Knowledge Reviews. You probably do not need to attend your local dive shop other than to get the book!
